Myles

Xander didn't look very comfortable on our way to my car and the ride to my apartment. He kept checking if anyone was watching us, which had started to piss me off a little.

"We should do a takeout. What do you like to have?" I asked.

"Or we can order a pizza," he suggested.

"I thought you didn't like pizza," that just slipped out of my mouth. Rule number one, don't tell a guy, you noticed him too much. But with Xander, all my rules were already out the window.

"How do you know?" he asked.

"I have a good memory, Xander, unlike yourself," I replied.

"I have a good memory," he countered, as always, and I could no longer say I hated it.

"Oh, so, you only have a bad memory when it comes to who you bed with?" I teased. From what I gathered, Xander clearly didn't remember Dawson and obviously didn't know we had met before.

I watched him slightly move away from me towards the window, "I thought you said you lived close by," he said, looking out the window.

"I do. Just making a D tour," I made a turn into a Chinese takeout place. "You like Chinese, right?" Even though I asked, I knew what Xander liked, which was a disturbing realization that I had watched Xander more closely than Simon during all those friends' get-togethers.

Xander reluctantly followed me to the restaurant, then glanced around to see who was there or if anyone was watching us.

"Who are you worried about?" I finally asked after placing our order.

"What?" he asked.

"Let me rephrase it. Who do you not want to know about us?" I questioned.

"There is no us, Myles," he sneered. Okay. That didn't sit right with me, but I ignored my feelings.

"Fine," I lowered my voice and spoke close to his ear, "who do you not want to know we are fucking," then I met Xander's eyes, which looked a bit more golden than hazel in this light.

"Simon," he stated like it was apparent. Again, he looked around. Simon lived in the same area as I did. Anyone could see us together and tell Simon.

"I'm not dating Simon anymore," I said. I was free to be with whomever I wanted.

"Simon's my best friend, and you are his ex," he finally looked me in the eyes. "Do you ever think beyond yourself, Myles?" he remarked, and our eyes got locked into each other.

If he was so worried, why was he with me? The thought occurred, but I didn't voice it. I didn't want Xander to feel more guilty and leave. I wanted him, needed him.

The girl at the counter announced my name, interrupting us.
